From Chris Berry #2

Hagenbeck Wallace Lion and Terrell Jacobs (1937)
This litho, featuring a lion head, actually dates back to 1935 - the first season that the Hagenbeck Wallace-4Paw Sells title was used (the artwork probably a year or two older than that). The fact that they were reaching back for posters on the shelves at Erie Litho and Ptg would lead one to believe that PERHAPS no NEW posters were created for Hagenbeck Wallace during that Depression season of 1937. The poster is from 1935 - the date tail again is from 1937 and features Jacobs.

Erie must have printed a ton of this style to be a 1935 poster still used in 1937.
also the date tail must have been Ringling's jab at Cole-Beatty with Clyde Beatty with 40 lions and tigers.
