Welcome to Buckles Blog. This site is for the discussion of Circus History all over the world.
Every time I see a wheel, or such derivations thereof, I lament that Johnnu Luxem did not patent his wheel when he perfected it.
Johnny Luxom did not invent the wheel. It was Clay Beckett.
Both Johnny Luxem & Leigh Heisinger had beautiful & more delicate wheels I recall seeing them in the late 50s or early 60s but my very favorite was Elvin's original "Big Bertha" the baby blue sleek (but very heavy) single ended wheel of steel (that was later replaced with a matching replacement of aluminum) & he did a fabulous routine with it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeksowQIZFQ&feature=channel
Jim please give us some captions for your rehearsal photos w/ act names
Billed as the "Wheel of Steel". Don't know who they are.
A fairly clunky device with not much design style & far too much going on What's with the guard rails (reminds me of training wheels on a bike)
