From Hal Guyon

Buckles,
In reference to the question asked by Roger Smith about the building in picture #2 on Friday. Here is a picture of Sparks Circus Winterquarters in Macon, Ga taken in 1928, looks like the same building in the background, think it`s still there.

Thanks, Hal. I'd never have known. If it's still there, I trust someone cares enough to maintain it.

It was and still is I assume, Central City Park, in downtown Macon. Floyd and Arnold Maley wintered there and Floyd and Cristianis wintered there. It was famous as Charlie Sparks qtrs. in previous years. I spent a couple weeks there getting stuff, animals, horses, etc. for big King opening. Remember those buildings well and old timers pointed out things. We worked out horses in that big building, ring barn. Was quite a place and a short walk to Central City El Cheapo Hotel, where I flopped among other show folks. Fond memories of being there with Walter Jennier, John Smith, Dorothy Herbert, Harry Rooks and others. johnny

Hal, isn't this part of the Fairgrounds now?

Yeah Bob, I had a Aunt that lived in Macon and we visited her 2-3 time a year when I was a kid. I remember a couple of times we were there when the fair was going on and my Dad telling me that it was once the old Sparks W Q`s. Amusements of America played that fair for years, don`t know if they still do. The last time I was in Macon was 2005 for my cousins funeral, went by the fairgrounds and the building was still there and look to be in good shape.
