Forepaugh Sells and Ringling often staked out their elephants in a picket line down the middle of the menagerie.

It always seemed rather dangerous to me. The bulls might get spooked by a strange sound behind them. Also, to make ready for a turn in the big top they would have to be led across the public walkway.

Also a long way to wheel barrow the manure unless they just let it lay and dropped the top on it.
