The horse's name was "Circus". During the war, he had been among a herd stabled at the Louisville Fairgrounds where the Govt. was experimenting to see if horse blood could could be converted into plasma. All had been shaved completely bald. After the project ended the horses were abandoned and while the Cole Show was wintering there Arky picked him out to be his elephant horse. A horse expert could probably tell how long he had been with the show by the length of his tail. I might add that the following year 1950, Arky would be riding Walter McLains old horse "Harold" on a different show.
