This was posted on FACEBOOK, thought it might be of interest. Called a "white model" this is what the Gold Unit will look like under the rehashed "Fully Charged" theme, the just retired Red Unit or as we use to call it the "Gunther unit". Note the one ring. Rumor has it that the Gold will do a one year tour with this theme as opposed to the previous format of a two year tour with the same theme. Maybe many towns were disappointed with the water downed version of the Greatest Show on Earth and ticket sales plummeted. Ticket prices are in the in $50 and above range and light up toys are in the $20 range. |

I am one of those towners that was very disappointed with the Gold watered down version.
But I cannot fuss as we got $10 seats not $50 ones.
We are a small town market here and will NEVER get the red or blue unit.
But we did get 2 programs for $12, this years and last years.
All animals leased from Carden so no heat on Ringling.

The term "white model" has been in
use in legitimate theater longer
than I've been around & they were
originally made of chipboard & then
of foamcore to show proportions to
the creatives & producers early on
Historically they were left in the
natural state of the materials used
Over the years they have become
more elaborate (& larger) & some
have much detail & color added
I believe it was Don Foote that
brought in a fellow to help flesh
out the spec floats details & he
created some foamcore "whites"
I still have some early circus &
theater stuff like this (surprise)
This type of a show should be fairly easy for the circus model builders to recreate in miniature.
Simple honesty demands they take down the Greatest Show on Earth logo, and just send the thing out on face value. The public is right--in this day and age, everyone knows what a great show is--and this isn't the greatest anything.

With the Feld Sisters given produvtion of their shows without any training or even working up in the field is nepotizem gone wild. I recall that the original title was RBBB presents "The Home Town" unit and operated that way for a short time and then got greedy and used the great title of RBBB the GSOE. What a travesty. I recall when seeing and then being with the GSOE was special. Too bad. I guess its all about those windfall concession profits.
Many of us John (& many before us)
should be very grateful to have had
the opportunity to be with & or to
have seen "TGSOE" when it truly was
