As your dad's former boss, surely Cheerful didn't have to call him "Colonel."

"Colonel" came later on the Floto Show when he became an avid reader of the "Red Colonel" in Saturday Evening Post resulting on him being called "The Colonel" and his buddy John Smith "Bulshevik Smitty" (later corrupted by the unaware to "Bullshit Smitty".

Great story- I don't recall the origin of his title ever appearing in print before.
