13 – Another group of images was taken by Frank Updegrove who, as a young man, traveled several season with Ringling-Barnum as a skilled teamster eventually handling a big eight-horse team. Updegrove kept a photo diary—he took a picture a day—including while he was in quarters just before the season opened. Here we see a nice April 1925 view of the car shops with flat, stock, and elephant cars in view. Updegrove also took some understandably dark but nevertheless wonderful interior views of the horse stalls and other areas not favored by the publicity department when they shot the paint (see photo 11) and wardrobe departments
