From Buckles

Written on the Back: "Mrs. C.A. Ketchell with the Bancrofts on Rowe Bros. Circus at Whitewater, Wis. 5/24/40." From Leviticus Jackson: "She was my Dad's sister, Betty. She was from Ashtabula Ohio." From Dave Reddy: Buckles: "I have no luck using the comments on your blog. On today's comments there was a question about what was the background of Betty Bancroft. It was under Rowe Bros. Circus 1940's dated Fri. Aug. 4, 2006. Well, I can give a little info for the Bancroft family. Betty was born in Jackson, MI & was a Kenk. Her sister, Mrytle & her mother raised the son she had with Fred as she was on the road with their wild west acts. The last I knew the son lived in Adrian, MI. He & his wife looked after Myrtle in her last years as she had dementia. I knew Betty & her last husband, John Dawson. They were retired from a Jackson, MI area school system & lived in Harrison, MI. This was all of 20 plus years ago. I can remember Betty telling me that the biggest mistake she had made was destroying all of her show business related photos when she divorced Fred."
