Charlie Franks


Actually her name was "Sonita" I have her listed with Mr. Franks 1956 thru 1971. No record before or after.
I never met Charlie since he operated mostly on the West Coast.
Roger Smith might comment on him.

Around the Compound, when we were Jungleland, I heard his name from our old-timers, but I never met him. If he were employed there, it must have been in the World Jungle Compound era, 1946-1956, when Billy Richards and Trader Horne ran the place.

charlie Franks had the elephant ride at Jungleland in the 60's Him and Madelyn lived at the big barn and he was the night watch man. my mom Thelma Chandler work with Charlie and Madelyn on the Elephant ride. Charlie also help my dad with the camels for Mr. Goeble. Charlie was still at the big barn in 1972.
