From Jim Cole

40 years ago....Hoxie Bros. Circus played some dates in New Jersey in September. I got in the old dodge camper and drove down there from Rhode Island. Herriotts were on the show that year.

I'm pretty sure that my cousin Mike

Bourbon was on Hoxie at that time

I spent my first 3 years in showbiz on Hoxie... Herriots and Mike Bourbon were there with us in 1972

Someone asked Hoxie Tucker why he painted the show trucks purple and he said if somebody blew the arrows all you had to do was ask, "Did you see a purple truck pass this way?"

1 of the running gags at the time

was that a "procurement supervisor"

obtained some "discarded" Red Show

paint & Blue Show paint & mixed

them together to make purple

We ended up painting all the road

boxes & equipment crates for the

Monte Carlo touring show for much

the same reason

This was sent as part of a set. Did you get the others?

Appears to be a conventional cab

"Cornbinder Loadstar" single screw

gas job from the mid 60s so clearly

not a heavy trailer load

I had a "horse" exactly like that

which was licensed in Andalusia

Alabama through the office of the

Judge of Probate Leland Enzor

Pehaps a few of you old crusties

might have had similar experiences

I believe the connection came from

Johnny Canole in Altoona

I remember Hoxie playing in NJ in 75, but I cant not remember who had the elephants? I walked around with him as he and I think Myrtle pulled stakes after the show in a rain storm...
