From Chic Silber #1

 Hi Buckles
Just received this window card for this year's
new show at Bouglione's Cirque D'Hiver
These other 3 cards were given to me by
Emilian during a visit years ago in Paris.

We used to work in Paris in the winter time to make a enough money to feed the animals and pay everybody a minimum salary just to get through the winter time. I don't know how many people remember fuzzy who worked for Gunther. When we worked in Paris for Bouglione he used to go to the dressing rooms of the performers and drink the hair tonic on there dressing tables. He died on the animal walk in 1979, just collapsed on the side of the road, I think it was in Dallas Texas.

Some readers may not have known that this is the same family, in the same building, where TRAPEZE was filmed in 1955 for a 1956 release. Veteran character actor Tomas Gomez played Mr. Bouglione to perfection. While we're at it, let's go TCM's Robert Osbourne one better. When he describes TRAPEZE, he only credits Eddie Ward for the aerial work. OK, once again--Fay Alexander doubled Tony Curtis's "Tino Orsini", and is in the credits as "Technical Advisor - Flying Sequences." He also actually caught the triple, the quest for which drives the story. Willie Krause doubled Burt Lancaster's "Mike Ribble" in the catch trap, and hapless Eddie Ward was fitted out with bosoms and a black wig to double Gina Lollobrigida's "Lola". It's almost impossible to get word directly to Osbourne--I've tried--so if anyone knows him, kindly have him credit the true circus people who were up in the rigging.
