My Dad wrote on the back of this picture:
"Bailey Bros. Circus, Newberry, NC 1946.
"Shirley", Col. Whitener, "Mike" (female), "Babe", Bob Stevens, "Christy" Mack MacDonald and "Carrie".

He once told me that "Mike" died right away (they arrived skin and bones) and another was added that Mack also named "Mike" but she later died as well.
So they remained a four-act throughout their years with Bailey Bros.

Did Oscar Cristiani get these as part of the settlement with Big Bob at the end of the Bailey-Cristiani tour?

At the close of the 1949 season word came out that the Bailey Bros. elephants (now Robbins Bros.) were for sale.
My Dad told D.R. how outstanding they were but before he could act, word came that the Cristianis had already bought them.

Buckles,
Bailey Bros had their WQ`s in Newberry, South Carolina, not North Carolina in 1946. I have some pictures of some of their semis with Newberry Sout Carolina Home of Bailey Bros. I`ll look them up and send them to you. My wife is from Newberry and her dad was a deputy sheriff there after WW II and he also told me about the WQ`s being at the County Fairgrounds.

I wrote that while copying my Dad's information from the back side of the photo and wasn't paying attention.
