I'll tell you what I think, but wiser readers might jump in. You see the ticket wagons at the right side? I think that was the beginning of the midway. The people came in walking to our left and passing the sideshow, which would be on their left.

Maybe that striped top at the left end was a marquee? Anyway the people went in at some point to the left and then walked back to our right thru the open-air menagerie and into the big top.
