Welcome to Buckles Blog. This site is for the discussion of Circus History all over the world.
Nice that she's showing them how & she's a lefty to boot (me too) At least she has a big target
It's missing those small targets that bring the broken toes and the lasting memories of days long ago. ~frank
Kiln dried flame tempered hickory handles are no match for gearless axle stakes (this 1 is fiberglass)
That's a 12 lb hammer & the stake has a welded cap & this young lady has my respect & admiration (shame on those wimpy boys)
Explanation of gearless axle stake for anyone interested is that most heavy car & truck rear axles make excellent hard ground stakes but the pressed on gear that meshes in the differential (rear end) will shatter from repeated glancing blows leaving just the shaft hence the more difficult target as well as no cap to secure lines to
Wimps generally use 8 lb to 10 lb hammers while the sturdy folk go all the way up to 16 lb (tough)
