Hugo Schmitt #9

The first thing Concello did when the Ringling Show moved indoors was bring Hugo Schmitt back.
He later sold "Targa" to the show and she remained there for the next 30 years.
In 1987 I was in Queens with Big Apple and the Red Show was in the Garden. One night after our performance a bunch of went down to watch them load out the train that was spotted nearby.
After the elephants had been loaded, Lee Keener called me over to one side and whispered that "Targa" had died that day in Providence.
I was stunned by this bit of information but even more surprised that Keener had learned in such a short time to whisper when discussing the show's events.
