Another classic from Kelty. Captain Terrell Monroe Jacobs, the Lion King, 1939, in the Garden. One shot of Beatty in the same Center Ring, Kelty took in 1934. We can once again spark the debate over how many animals Jacobs worked that year. His daughter, Judy, told me her father carried 55cats and worked between 35 and 52. Like with Beatty's two Big Acts, photos have never provided us a fully unobstructed view. If we had a count, it would be for that one show. Variables with animal acts that size promised inconsistency at best.

Early in my breaking in, I learned of Jacobs placing his safety cage opposite his animal gate, shown here just off center.
