This is one of the Africans Gary Hill had previously at the Park in Texas. She had been kept temporarily at the Jacksonville Zoo and was delivered to Circus World Feb. 21 1974, just before the park opened and seen here after a few days training.
I named her "Bonnie", you can't get too many brownie points, you know.

Buckles, I remember the day Bonnie "escaped" from her leg chain out back of our trailers. She rocked Gary and my trailer hard and put her tusk through the back of the trailer right over our pillows on the bed ha!

When I loaded her into the Ringling concession trailer that came to pick her up, it was full of Mattel junk and office furniture...She punched about 20 holes in it before rolled out of the parking lot...:))))

Did Bonnie have an associate "escape" with her and end up in the LP Tank farm? I remember one morning coming in to the security gate and found that two of the elephants had gotten out and were in the LP tank farm. A few minutes later here comes Buckles and Anna Mae headed in that direction to the rescue. From where I was watching (at a distance), they sauntered over to the "escapees", it looked like some words were exchanged (in english and elephant) and the four of them just turned around, tailed up and headed back to the barn. I'm sure there's more to it than this, but from a distance it was neat to watch.

To be honest I don't remember this event at all but I'm sure it must be true since I was quite dashing and daring in those days!
