Looks like Mudu
Yes it is.
She was one of the Billy Smart elephants that came over in 1972.
I think her name was "Chi Chi" but Hugo renamed her after one of the Hagenbeck zoo elephants he worked in 1948.
He used the name "Tagu" often.
First look and I thougnt it was her...
What's the story of the two elephants that have the stars on their back?
Mike, 4 of the 6 punks received in the fall of 1980 had the stars branded on them. Gunther got into winter quarters first, so had time to handle them all and pick the ones he wanted. he took 2 and 4 went to Axel.
I remember feeding "Mudu" (who had the name "Modoc" on her official signage on the CW elepant barn) sweet potatoes, bread and other "carbs" every morning at CW...some concern about her weight...
