We Have Met The Enemy And He Is Us
Overheard from the opossum in the
rowboat in the Okefenokee Swamp
(credit to Walt Kelly)
Hey Zeeba Neighbor.......
One of Pogo's confidantes was the turtle "Churchy LaFemme" plus the ominous Pastor "Sarcophagus Macabre"
His most constant companion was
Albert the alligator & my favorite
running gag was the variation on
a theme of a political name on the
transom of the rowboat which I had
no comprehension of for many years
It was good fun on many levels
Many years later I enjoyed Calvin
& Hobbes by Bill Watterson & keep
a few favorites on my office wall
in New York
One Saturday they bused our football team up to Fayetteville to see a Razorback football game.
During the halftime show, Walt Kelly was introduced and paraded around the field perched on a convertible.
Such was his fame at the time.
Mr. Possum ran for the Presidency once with the slogan "I GO POGO!"
