Once the various pieces were all assembled, the result was a carved wooden carousel horse that was almost identical to the ones produced by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company back around World War I. This type of carousel horse is referred to as a “jumper” since it was intended to go up and down in a galloping motion while the carousel was turning. (I ended up buying a horse from Mr. Long that was identical to this one.) |
