The Seabreeze carousel’s Wurlitzer 165 band organ. Unfortunately, the Seabreeze Park carousel and its band organ were completely destroyed by a fire in 1994. The carousel that operates there today is populated with the horses that George Long had carved years earlier and which his family had had the foresight to keep from being sold. |

In the late 60's(68or69) the old Philadelpha Tobbagan machine from the then defuncted Cetlin&Wilson Shows was insured for $150,000.00, taken to a farm near Ocala, Fl and burned. Charlie Guttermuth and Barney Corey whacked up the insurance monies.
Hi Buckles - John Norris here, grandson of George Long. What a great bunch of photos! When you get a chance, send me an email at john@seabreeze.com. I'd like to send you a photo pix of our new carousel (I don't thinik I can add one here) and see if I can get your photos to add to our museum. Thanks!
The new Seabreeze carousel does have two smaller standers carved by George Long riding next to the two chariots. But the majority of the horses were carved by Ed Roth, Los Alamitos, Calif., expressly for Seabreeze Park. There are four 1915 horses from the original carousel, PTC#36, on the new machine. They were not destroyed by the March 31, 1994, fire because they were off the ride for painting or repair.
