Rumor always had it that the carousel from Savin Rock amusement park in West Haven, CT, which I used to ride as a kid went to Six Flags Magic Mountain when it retired. I wonder if this is it . . .?

You are correct. The Magic Mountain carousel once operated at Savin Rock. Back in March of 1971, while Magic Mountain was still under construction, I had an opportunity to photograph the carousel, which had just been completely refurbished. It has been at Magic Mountain now for over 40 years.

Thank you, Eric. A huge part of my home town died when Savin Rock got redeveloped. I'm happy to see that the Flying Horses didn't die with it . . .

That was a pleasant blast from the past. I haven't heard them called "Flying Horses" since I was a kid @ Salisbury Beech MA.

Thanks!
