Wanda,
No animals means no heat in California from peta, which Vargas plays many dates there.
I am with you Wanda, what is a circus without animals as they make the show.

Wanda,
It is refreshing to read an honest review, one untainted by a free snow cone, a hand shake, and seating in the president's box.

When Dick Garden's PICCADILLY CIRCUS was here in Ocala, I spent two days decorating the office wagon. I had the rare opportunity of overhearing the comments when the public first saw the adult price of $32. PLUS a $10. VIP seating upgrade. Quite a few OMG's and other gripes BUT they came up with the money. Very few walks. Great show WITH animals.
I well remember the gripes when Hoxie Tucker went to " ALL SEATS $1" in 63. Mosy people were VERY upset with kids being charged THAT much.
"Huh! See that little show. Ain't got no elephant. Guess I won't go."
(I read this somewhere. It's supposed to represent how the quality of a circus was judged in the Deep South, years and years ago. This yardstick is still appropriate today to some of us)
No heat Harry leaves me cold
Call it what you like but it
sure isn't a circus
Kinda like those damn frogs
with all their reinventions
Chic,
Right on as a circus is not a circus without animals.
And may I add that a tent sure the heck helps to.
The thrill to go out early and see that huge tent go up with elephants and what a show it was.
I can see Freddy Logan and Pete hard at work.
Those huge center poles going up and those flags flying in the breeze. WOW

Saw Struppie Hannerford`s Royal Hannerford Circus this weekend at the Jamil Temple Shrine date here in Columbia ,SC. Bruno Blasak Tigers, Tim Frisco with the Carson Barnes bulls, and a great dog act. $15 adults $13 kids in advance, $18adults $15 kids at the door. Can`t beat that price, and Good Circus all the way through !!!
Nice picture of Ted Polke, Cathy Braa and Alan Gold though . . .
Harry hit it on the head, over 90% of the Vargas dates are in
Cal-antianimal-ifornia. They cater to middle-upper class families that can afford to see a Cirque show at $150, but want something more traditional. (By the way, there were enough places to get discount tickets, or coupons where you didn't have to pay full price for tickets.)
The show that we saw in Phoenix is NOT the show that they'll see in California ~ just like the RBBB show that we see in Tampa is not the same show that they see in The Garden. (There is still a problem with Visa issues for two of the acts that will be joining the show and they will be premiering a side-by-side double trapeze in a few weeks.)
I missed the animals, but I understand what they're up against. I say ANYONE who can frame a show in this economy, in a tent that isn't a year old, with equipment any roadie would kill for and acts that entertain... is Circus to me.

PS - Wade, I never did find where to get my free snow cone. :-)
Frank,
Yeah, but you got the handshake, which next to free snow, free program/coloring book, the President's box and an auttygraffed 8 X 10 is the next best thing. Individually or as a bundle, they will always produce a favorable review. :)

Talk about a good review as long as I saw Circus Vargas under the large big top and indoors Cliff always put on the a great circus.
You got the best bang for your buck seeing Circus Vargas
And one instance my Mom and some family members and were at the marque waiting to get in. It was a cold rainy October day and Cliff saw us and personally escorted us to the Presidents box and put us in the seats before they even yelled doors. Mom died a month later of Cancer.
When I got married Cliff sent us a wedding gift.
Mr. V was one of a kind and memories of that show I will have till I am 6 feet under.
Gone but not forgotten.

Where did you get that crap. The show in Tampa, if its the same unit, is exactly the same in the Garden. except for accidents. etc. Its not nice make a crack like that. Please take it back. johnny
