Sad smiles for happier times, Buffy, (pronounced Boo-fee), has become a handsome young man with a family of his own and a tribute to his father. ~frank
Frank,
I believe it was only pronounced Boo-fee if you spoke with a German accent. He grew to hate that nickname as a lot of jealous people used it to cast aspersions, much preferring Mark. He and his sister spent a life time under a "circus microscope" given their name Gebel. Child and step child of the man who brought more name recognition to the circus than any person in the last 50 years, chose a career away from it. Kinda makes you wonder......

I remember that quite a few folks
called him Mark Oliver which I
think he liked better & Gunther
also had another German word he
would use in private
Chic,
Most likely it was the same German word my father used.

So what word was that
Hugo Schmitt's favorite expletive was, "You F------ Eee-Di-Ote!"
Chic,
That's the one.

I no ink so Wade as he called both
Sigrid & Tina "Schatzie" there
was some other endearing term
he used for the boy
Chic,
Mein "Schatzie/Schatz" is also what he called the miniature horses in the big and little act I trained. He also referred to Sabre, one of the young tigers I added to his act, in the same way.

We had a Hungarian all Girl juggling act on the show when Mark was born, the Tundis. The gave Buffy his name, it is Hungarian and means little fat one. He was a bit chubby as a baby.
Henry,
Thank you for the history lesson. I hope you are well.
