From Gary Payne

Stay tuned, because anything can happen in the matters of animal rights extremists (and all that money their attorneys want to take) versus the circus! BUT - it appears that the sneak attack against RBBB in Fulton County/Atlanta, GA, has been at least temporarily ignored/cast aside, and elephants WILL INDEED appear with the Circus there this week!

Yesterday, the hearings in Boston, MA, regarding a similar ban (guide tools and tethers) in Massachusetts, appeared to this observer/participant to go well. At least one Representative said he'd had enough of these allegations! Feld Entertainment had several brilliant speakers testify, some of whom were called back later (rather unusual) and given an opportunity to refute comments of obvious animal rights advocates. Feld was joined by notables from the fair industry and by circus fans including Bob Commerford, Wayne McCary (Eastern States Exposition), myself (Gary Payne), Atty Gary Cooper, Barb Moore and Ed Motta.

Gary,I have done this and have already gotten a very nice letter back from my South Carolina Congressman. I urge everyone who loves animals in the circus to do the same.
