Among the Christmas cards we received came disturbing news from Ray Gronso that Gordon Taylor has become very ill and in fact is confined to the house.
We are praying for his speedy recovery.

Here's a picture of Gordon receiving the 15 minute crash course on how to lead an elephant during the Sarasota Circus Festival years ago.

First time I worked elephants,
I didn't get any educational instructions. I was just told to do it.

Capt, do you remember the date we took the herd from Winter Quarters to Circus World? Should be coming up soon??

We pulled out of Venice with 17 elephants aboard 2 old retired elephant cars on Feb. 3, 1974 and arrived at the site the following day.
Circus World opened Feb. 21 and "Bonnie" arrived two days later.
"Hugo" brought in from Jacksonville Zoo July 1.

I believe Gordon was there the summer I worked with you...
He had a '57 (ish) chevy he was always talking about, tho I never saw it...

His favorite joke was...
Q-
Do you know how to really piss off Buckles???
A-
HIDE his elephants!

He always treated me like "one of the guys."

I wish him well.

He was always cuttin' up jackpots and was very kind.

I recall one of his favorite jokes...

I wish him well.

Cindy, wrong Gordon!
The one you describe sounds like a clown we had with Big Apple called Gordoon.

Capt, help my memory? When I loaded out Hugo and George, Hugo went to Jacksonville Zoo and George went to Georgia to the Wild Kingdom guy..Tarzan aka Gardner went to Rex and I sent Bonnie by herself in the back of a rig full of office furniture and Mattel toys..where did Bonnie go between then and coming to CW?

All I remember is that I sent Gary Jacobson to pick her up at a place where Jack Hannah was running things.
Gary said it was a struggle getting her into that Ringling animal hauler, she would get her front feet in and no further.
Finally he tossed his hook to Hannah and yelled,"Kick her in the ass!" and he did just that and hurt his foot.
Nuf Ced.
