Clipping #1

My sister in law Peggy gave me a box of stuff a while back that she had saved over the years, mostly newspaper clippings of which a few are included. Elephants here are "Peggy" (original name "Eva" when trained by John Herriott), "Rebecca" and "Mack". I over booked that year and came up an elephant short. My wife had "Toto" with Big Apple while Ben and "Anna May" were with Vargas. I made a deal with Kenny to rent "Rebecca" who then turned me over to one of his lawyers to work out the details, I can't remember his name, a real A.H. (how about that for computer talk?) came time to go to Baraboo and he was still dragging his feet so I took the truck down to Venice where Ted was in charge of the surplus elephants and loaded her up and headed North. Someone asked yesterday if any of the Billy Smart elephants were still with Ringling, this one might be. Maybe "Zina". Anyone dumb enough to steal an elephant can't be expected to remember that much.
