Dear Kenton, I haven’t heard from you in a while! I was able to find four old black and white prints dated from 1922 of an Asiatic Elephant mounted skeleton in our mammals photo file. Please see the attached pdf file containing scans of these images. There is no indication as to which specimen these photos represent, but how many mounted skeletons of an Asian Elephant could we have had? These are probably images of “Albert.” The skeleton of “Albert” was cataloged on 27 July 1885 as USNM 21977, and is currently indicated on our database as a partial skeleton (no longer mounted) located in our offsite storage facility. I hope this helps! Best wishes for the upcoming holidays.
