Terrell's wife shown here, also named Jean, is the mother of the Davenport brothers.

Fred told me his big cat experience was born of an apprenticeship to Terrell Jacobs. Like many grateful students, he spoke of his mentor with near-reverent respect and admiration.

If that's Terrell on the right

then it appears he was a lefty

Chic,
Wouldn't his gun be on the other hip in that case?

It would only be on his right hip

if it were a left handed holster

for a cross hand draw Wade

Beatty wore his on the right

My father advised me to always wear my pistols butts forward to prevent them from being snatched from behind.
In attempting to disarm me from the front, many an evil doer found it to be a fatal mistake.

So that must be why so many folks

call you Jesse (as in James)

Chic,
If he is left handed his whip would be in his left hand. What hip should the gun be on in order for him to use the whip as well as the gun simultaneously? Opposite if he was right handed. Whip in the right hand, gun on the left hip. I can't speak to Beatty or other great chair men, but Pat Anthony had the skill to hold the gun and the chair in his left hand, shooting and fending off with the chair while encouraging with the whip in his right hand. He was right handed, as am I, as are about 99% of all animal trainers. I have personally seen only one left handed trainer. That was in 1976 when Hawthorn contracted Jean Michon from France.
