Polack Bros. Circus #5

I trained three young elephants for the show while we were there "Stella" in 1965, "Kenya" in 1966 and "Louie" in 1967, by then I had learned how to suck-up to the boss.
This elephant eventually wound up in South America. Someone sent me a picture of him 4 or 5 years ago.

"Sucking up to the boss." Is that a trait one loses as one grows older and gains experience, or is it merely a survival tactic that masks one's true feelings? ~frank

How old was "Little Louis" when you got him?

Buckles said...

Maybe a couple of years.
He came from a bull man named Jim Coughlin "Kokomo".
I had him brought down to Mack's place while the show was coming East from California.
We stopped long enough to toss a collar chain on him and have "Anna May" drag him up into the truck and he was officially in show biz.

According to Bob Cline, Louis is at Circo Hermanos Fuentes Gasca (Circus Brothers Gasca). I believe he is castrated.

Buckles, there was one elephant named Stella at Polacks, who seems to have arrived at a Mexican circus in the seventies. Do you have any idea which one?

I'm sure it's the same elephant.
MacDonald sent her down there about 1971.

Now I see that I mixed it up, the Polack female asian elephant I was refering to, coming to a mexican circus in apr 1951, was Sally, not Stella.

Any idea which circus?

This is my uncomplete list of 26 elephants at Polacks http://www.elephant.se/location2.php?location_id=492&show=6

Sorry for this confusion!
