I lithographed the front window of Stewart's Hardware in Indiana, PA, for the Cristiani show. This was still owned my Jimmy's dad at the time.

Of course over the years many billers did this, so it's not something that has to go in my obit.

The following season there was a photo in the program of Jimmy Stewart and Prince Paul shaking hands, it might have been the first time that they met since the filming of Cecil B. DeMille's "Greatest Show on Earth".
Prince Paul Alpert will always be remember for his line, "Brad, Brad, Sebastian's back".
DeMille wil be inducted to Sarasota's St. Armands Ring of Fame in January, 2012 a fitting tribute to him and his movie because it was 60 years ago - January 1952 that the movie premiered in Sarasota.
Question for Jackie LeClaire: would it be possible to round-up all the circus folks who were in the movie and seat them together for the induction?

In my opinion, that should be no problem at all lining up those still here who appeared in the Greatest Show On Earth. I will get together with Mary Jane Miller
aboout this. It might be good PR for coverage. Off hand there is Mary Jane Miller, Jeannie Sleeter, (Spelling ?), Jeannie Krause, Norma Fox, I am not sure about Jenny Wallenda. I was only there for the film and am not aquainted with which acts were on the show, but know Alberto Zoppe was there and do not know if they were married at that time. Needless to say, it should be not problem getting them together, but you would have to have Floyd Krugers intput on this subject first. There may be others who where in the film, my mind does not work as it used to. Jackie LeClaire

In re Whitey's story on Stewart Hardware:

Jimmy Stewart told this in an interview: Upon his winning the Best Actor Oscar in 1940, for THE PHILADELPHIA STORY, his dad, who never took much interest in Hollywood, called him and said, "Jim, they're saying on the radio that they gave you some kind of prize out there. What was it, son, a plaque or a ribbon or something?" Jimmy said, "Well, dad, you see, they give us a little statuette, and call it the Oscar." Mr. Stewart said, "Oh, well, OK then, son. Wrap it up and send it back here, and I'll put it in the window at the store." So Jimmy dutifully went down and got it, wrapped it carefully and sent it home. It stayed in the hardware store window for twenty years. Stewart's Oscar now resides with his alma mater, Princeton University.
