This reminds me of one in NY's Central Park.
Cooperstown was the home of James Fenimore Cooper who wrote the "Hawkeye" books (LAST OF THE MOHICANS, THE PATHFINDER, THE DEERSLAYER, etc.) No doubt the statue is meant to honor some of the Indian characters from these books.
