Yes it was and very effective even when Freddie put it back with the BC herd. I always felt it was just great mastodonic [whatever that is] eloquence with the music fitting the overall cadence with effective drum beats. Solid circus at its best. Either Shipley or Huntley routined it. Certainly it was done before and usually just a herd coming out of a ring. but of course that many coming straight down the hippodrome track was the frosting on the cake. Horses, nelephants or anything done on the hippodrome track was always effective, even Otto come in. tanglefoot

Wasn't the "Marching Long Mount" sort of a signature trick of the Beatty herd?
They had a large poster- can't recall offhand if a six or nine-sheet- showing the Marching Elephants.
