That was a name (& address) that

never really caught on with the

local folks & the US post office

Much early mail was returned to

sender but I think they added

another zip code to accomodate

But yes Gary that was TGSIHC

in Haines City anyway

Don't get me wrong Gary as we are

among the very few that remember

Barnum City & I'm not sure if it

ever made it on a real map but it

sure aint there now so you did

real good by reminding us pal

I always thought that the view

of the main building from I-4

had the look of a Kentucky Fried

Chicken distribution warehouse

All gone but not forgotten

Remember the original owners wanted to build a 23 story elephant shaped hotel on the site. The beginnings of the park were only the first step.
It would have been an ugly building anyway....

I was with Irvin and Kenny in Hawthorne,CA, when Irv made the first announcement to the Mattel board about the idea of CIRCUS WORLD.

Later, when the research firm determined that Haines City,FL should be the site to build it on, I said that the concept would work in any city in the country, but NOT the Orlando area.

I protested that, how can we call ourselves "The Greatest Place on Earth" when that place truly IS just a few miles from us?

Furthermore, I did not trust the research firm. They had selected the site for Disney World and knew all the land owners in the area.

Therefore, I suspected that they might be getting a KICKBACK from the Haines City landowners, if the deal was consummated.
