In the fall of 1967, the purchase of RBBB from JRN was finalized with a symbolic and great photo op signing of the sale papers in the Coliseum of Rome, that you are all familiar with.

From that time forward, Trolle thought that he had the upper hand on Irvin, because only Trolle knew who, and how, to deal with in order
to obtain Eastern European artists for the Big Show.

That all changed, in late 1968, when Irvin, majority owner Judge Roy Hofheinz, and their entourage toured and searched for artists all over the Eastern bloc countries.

By the end of their trip, Irvin had personally met each and every Talent Director in those Iron Curtain countries.

Irvin expressed his satisfaction to me, in early 1969, as we watched the dress rehearsal, at the St.Petersburg Bay Front Center, for the TV special,
when he pointed to Trolle, standing on the arena floor, and said,"Look at him squirm, he knows that I've got him now!".

From that point on, Irvin had the "upper hand"!

JRN and Trolle Rhodin were accepted in the International circus community for so many years. JRN going even back to his Uncle John and Rhodins family were predominent in Sweden-Scandinavia even during the war years. Irvin was new and certainly not accepted into that European social-business network. I agree with Frank and his assessment. Some of that rubed off on me when Irvin was pleased to find quality American trainers-presenters and told Trolle just that I know for sure. But Irvin still had a need for Rhodin in his expertise in circus biz., his knowledge of the whole European circus scene and he now being a part of what we become a huge circus enterprise here in Americxa. Eve up to the fall of the Iron curtain Trolle each year would take on separate junkets the members of each EASTER cOUNTRY on a lavish tour of America including Blue and Red Vegas courtesy of Irvin-Kenneth RBBB. I am referring to the politacal circus commissars of each country. I recall giving them back stage tours, etc. Irvin and Kenneth at that time did not have the Old World Charm and social graces. In fact neither is much on that kind of smoozing. So Rhodin was still an important guy in the company to his end. We still do not know too much about loyalty. This is my observation. And Frank was surely there and can well imagine Irvin pontificating abou that situation. I still believe that in the East at that time Trolle still knew where the bodies were buried, so to speak. I know that Allen Bloom and no doubt Irvin liked both Rhodin and Lawson as they admired their skillful skulduggery. takes one to know one. I am sure Frank and Chic would heartedly agree with me that they werte certainly the most interesting best of times, especially if you had a reserved seat and not up in the blues. Thanks, Johnny
