A belt of bells slung around the neck of the finish horse in a riding act was common, but were they also frequently on bucking mule acts?
Zarkana--probably another contrived name without precedent that can be marketed as something unique and unusual, and which no one else can tread upon because of enthusiasticly enforced copyright and trademark protection.
That is a drawing of a "hurdle mule" act. Very poular on many circuses. Ab Johnson was reputed to be the best hurdle mule act-rider. The mule ran around the ring and as it jumped the clown in those instants would do funny poses either vaulting or on the mule. In his youth my Dad said he was taught to ride "hurdle mule" johnny. The tip off that it is a hurdle mule is the "roller" or surcingle common to all bareback-rosinback riding. I suppose it could be funny parady following a riding act.On Christy and other shows they would do it in all three rings. Not to be confused with the "january" mule act. Also popular but a talking act better on smaller shows.

In a slightly related matter, I see that the new Soleil Show is called "Zarkana" which at first led me to believe it might a spin-off from "Hee Haw!"
You mean like Tex-zarkana?
