In this photo, we can count 6 spotted leopards, one black topmounter, and 8 white dogs. This may not be the full count of the act, as at R, in front of the tree, are two additional seats, and stretch pads. This was during Eloise's Cuneo era, in which she worked an impressivevariety of acts. She was always a prime example of the poise and class everyone appreciated from one of the great women trainers. As a kid in 1962 I saw a similar act on Kelly Miller. Was this Ms. Berchtold's act or a similar act with someone else?
It is possible you saw this act performed by Rebecca Apponey, "The Duchess". She also worked several acts for Cuneo's Hawthorn line-up.
Anon: This was the same act you saw. Kelly-Miller bought it in 1961 and Rebecca Apponey went over there to work it.
Maybe you're new to the Blog but Rebecca used to write in all the time and there was a discussion of her and the act at that time.
Also Pat Jameson worked the act when I saw it on the 1959 Polack show.
D.R. Bought the act from Cuneo.for the KM Silver anniversary tour in 1961' Gene Gardner was in charge of it and I'm sorry I can't remember the name of the gal who worked it. In '62 it was on the show but it was a different presenter (could the name have been something like Sprague. ?). D.R. Had beautiful special paper printed in several sizes. Charlie Bellatti
