Circus Display at the Big E (from Greg Parkinson)

Buckles, to give you an idea of the scope of the Big E exhibit...

3,500 sq. ft.; about 330 LF of exhibit wall; about 100 photos of RBBB from collections all over the US (ca. 1930-1956 arriving, setting up, performance underway, back yard activity, tearing down, train movement) digitally enlarged, some as big as 3' x 4'; about 15 large format photos - beautiful color - from the Bratthen slides at Illinois State; 50 framed posters related to that era (train arrival, Alfred Court, Unus, Terrell Jacobs, lot scenes, etc.; Mother Goose Float and historic film footage from CWM; two 5' x 9' screens and two smaller flat screens; sound includes Merle's band in 1931 playing with air calliope; special sections on animal promotions (Jumbo, Ringling's "Last Giraffe", White Elephant, Gargantua, etc.); also Hartford fire, Barnum & Bailey's five-year European tour - this is where Mother Goose ties in; a little bit on street parades mostly about why they were phased out in the 20s and 30s. - you get the idea.

Title of exhibit is Circus Around the Clock. T.J. and Gayle Howell will perform in the large entrance area to the exhibit and present 3 or 4 audience participation shows daily (juggling and hula hoops).

Anyway, I am really glad to have your "pulling the peaks" photo as it fits perfectly with the large group of photos on the 1940s - 1950s set up.

Best regards,

Greg

We had the great pleasure of seeing the huge Poster exhibit at the Big "E" during the CHS Convention a couple years ago. I sure wish we could be there to see this also. It sounds incredible.

You said it Bob. The best Greg, the best.

Will there be any kind of a handout? Don't think we'll be able to make it, first time in many years.

Sounds like an exhibit Circus World should install.
