Over the years zoos have been so popular and those old buildings, supposedley antiquated, seemed to do just fine. I think people were responsible for so much unimprvement that left to the pro-animal people would have been more than adequaTE CONSIDERING THE VAST SUMS OF MONEY BEING flushed down the drain. The two years my Dad was at the Nat. Zoo some new WPA bldgs. were constructed. [elephant, giraffe, hippo, tapir, etc],and very nice. Moats instead of bars. Some efficient, some not so. Very nice but missing the old world archtecual charm. An-imals were still cared for just about the same way. I love those old zoos, but naturally in our modern reinventing the wheel they become humanely incorrect. These new metal buildings will hardly have the life of those old brick stone structures. Well that progress. To hear tell animals are worse off now than before. An elephant that had a home for thirty years and thrived and seemed content now has to stand out in some ten acres of nothing. Well i GUESS i BETTER GET OFF TE SOAP BOX.TANGLEFOOT
Amen to what you said, Johnny.
