As I believe someone noted, in a performance shot Lou's car is painted Lou Jaob yet here it is Lou JacobS.

Eric, I think you've got a great second career going. Thank you so much.

Note in GSOE #17, as Lou gets out of the car, the left door is a "suicide door", one which opens out from the front, and is lettered LOU JACOB. The door we see here is the right door, which was a dummy and didn't open, and upon which someone corrected the lettering to include the S.

My memory does not work like it shold, but if I am not mistaken, I believe Jacob was Lou's real name. I just checked a 1944 route book and he is listed as Ludwig Jacob. We will all agree that the "S" adds a show business ring to it to make the name really stand out. His daughter uses the name Dolly Jacobs also. I am listed in the book as John E. LeClercq and my father John B. LeClercq. The route book must have listed the names via the payroll listing, not the show names. One day the Ringling museam said they could not find our names in the route book. Jackie LeClaire

All this conversation, and we forgot to honor this classic whiteface, long a Ringling feature clown, Charlie Bell.
