A number of the winter quarters scenes were not in the shooting script, but were devised on the spot, after DeMille arrived in Sarasota and saw the many cinematic opportunities that winter quarters offered. (These impromptu scenes are among the most effective ones in the whole film!) |

In this scene in the motion picture, if you look at the ground you can see the shadow of the sound boom moving across. I guess DeMille left it it as few would notice it and when it was caught, the film might have been already into production. Look for it the next time you see the film. Jackie LeClaire
This is one scene in which a favored name was gratuitously added to the script. The lady in center tells Brad the baby gorillas had been playing with Randy Concello, who had come down with mumps (or measles). Art didn't care to appear on film, but this got his son's name in.
A second contrived scene depicted the well-scrubbed and dressed-to-kill Frank McCloskey family, with Frank struggling through his line about being there when Jenny Rooney fell. Ironically, as Leitzel's rigger, he was actually there, in Copenhagen, when she sustained her fatal injuries, falling at his feet as his gaze had wandered from her act.
