when did they switch to the bull tubs they use indoors--as opposed to the painted ones like here?? who makes bull tubs these days? i liked the style tub we had on RBBB in the 70s.

Gunther-Williams came here with a bunch of various type bull tubs. Big and small. I believe that it was G$G metals in Venace that came up with those indoor type tuba [they would sink right in on the ground] It seemed that soon anumber of those tubs showed up in other elephant acts. I wonder how that came about?

I remember him, his name was Uve (Huey).
He didn't stay around long.

GUNTHER also brought deep, large, heavy wooden slabs to serve as artificial floors for the elephants.

I was with Tuffy when he first saw them and, judging from his comments, I knew that they would not be around for long!

And they were NOT.

I was told that Tuffy said, "Get rid of those boards and I'll put your car on the train!" and Gunther went for it.

Buckles,
Didn't the Chipperfield elephants stand on boards or was it Tognis'? I remember the Chipperfield elephants would stand instead of laydown when the Irish grooms brushed them with brooms.

The Togni's carried a deck.
I remember seeing each section lifted by a tractor with a hoist and lowered into a stake bodied wagon.
