I guess pink must be the color

of choice for poodles

Kandy Garden & Alicia Farfan

as well as a few I can't recall

Maybe it's a Parisian thing

Anonymous said...

Wasn't Poodles of Paris or Parisian Poodles Jim Douglass's name?

Or maybe Gerry Soules or Victor

Julian but none of their dogs

were pink (I think)

Gerard Soules used Poodles de Paree,

Victor Julian (Yelding) had his "Little Stars"

Jimmy Douglass had a train theme where the dogs were brought into the ring on a motorized train.

Gary Noel has the "Doggies of the Wild West"

Dick Kohlrieser was "America's Favorite Dog Catcher" with the Dog Pound Revue

The Muttville Comix are Johnny Peers.

Rudy Heinen and Carla Zoppe present "Rudy's Dogs of Bavaria"

The Darnells work "The Poodle Follies"

Davide and Susan Zoppe are known for "Susan Sheryll's Royal Afghan Champions"; Susan is from the acrobatic Bumpy Family.

Stephenson were billed in the Ringling program as the "World's Greatest Dog Act".

Antaleks were the "Lonas Dogs" and prior to Mrs. Antalek's passing, "Lona's Dogs", note the apostrophe s.

Carmen Hall presented "Charmaine's Pets"

OK, somebody pick up the next set of dog acts.

That's quite enough thanks Mike

Never did care much for the dogs

If Kandy's rotten Chihuahua had

any teeth left in his senior age

I wouldn't have survived to be

playing in this sand box now

He hated me with a vengeance

Mary France Timmerman had a

mess of Yorkies & Anna Farfan

had some elegant Dobermans &

I think it was Moore's Mutts

that were in "The Will Rogers

Follies" on Broadway

Chic,
You are so close that you win the cigar. It was Brackney's Mess 'o Mutts, Tom Brackney and Bonnie (nee Moore) with the Will Rogers Follies.
Tom and Bonnie worked on a few of my corporate/industrial events in the Northeast.

Dick Kohlrieser's dogs did the Will Roger's Follies in Branson, MO that starred Pat Boone.

Joanne Wilson did a national tour of WRF followed by a national tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

The Darnells Poodle Follies were featured in a summer stock production of WR Follies for which I handled the booking.

I can't remember the name of the

fellow with a big dog named Louie

that worked the Ed Sullivan show

many times over the years & the

gimmick was that the dog would

hold any position it was placed

in on a table & do nothing as the

guy would keep repeating attaboy

Louie & request assorted tricks

The dog was 1 of the best trained

animals I ever saw with pathetic

looking expressions as it held

some very awkward positions

My favorite dog act

"Janeys Dazzling Dobermans" (Coronas) if I remember the act name correctly.
Gee Gee's Alaskans
Mark Horton

Then there were those 2 European guys who made a living for years with just one dog 'Andre', a standard poodle. In the 80's I saw them on numerous TV shows. The act started with an illusion, producing the huge dog from a tiny box, then it was just 5 or so tricks. After the show, they probably threw the illusion into the trunk of the Cadillac, the dog hopped into the back seat, and off they went to the next booking. Sweet!

And don't forget the basketball boxer acts - Rudy Docky, Hannefords, Scotts

I'm gonna enter the contest too --- Stacy and Muriel presented "Moore's Madcap Mongrels " ---- photo is dated 1985

Can't believe I didn't mention

the very best circus dog ever

Lou's Knucklehead of course

Chic,
It was BOB WILLIAMS and LOUIE,
Here's a clip of them on the Hollywood Palace, 46 years ago.

BOB and LOUIE were the featured novelty act in the Broadway production of SUGAR BABIES with Mickey Rooney and Ann Miller, 1980.

Here's a clip of the show stopper medley that Rooney and Miller did in Sugar Babies.

Good entertainment never goes out of style.

Don't forget Rudolf Cimsi. In deference to the European chap's, he had more crap jammed into that old bus then you could imagine.

Bob Williams had Louie and can be seen on You Tube.

Paul Siedel and Judy was another great act.

Janet Burger came out of the Torelli family of dog and pony acts.

Robert Baudy had a greyhound act back in the day. That was before the tigers.

The list could go on and on.

And for some more Circus Trivia, did you know that Cimse did an aerial motorcycle on the high circular platform with his wife and daughter, this was prior to the wolfhounds and pomeranians.

I think the longest running dog act in show business is David Rosaire Perky Peeks, an act that originated with his mother, Ida, sister of Derick Rosaire, Sr.

David is returning to CWM in Baraboo for his second summer season.

Hi Chic, the name of the guy with the dog is Douglas Kossmeier, a Cousin of mine.
He also did the Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. shows

Chic Silber said...

Was Bob Williams his stage name

or was this a different fellow

Unless you tell us your name we

don't know who's cousin he is

Raul Rodrigues had an excellent act "Lloyds Old English Sheepdogs" and Gunther's daughter Tina I believe had a poodles act.

Chic Silber said...

Tina is Sigrid's daughter

Mark Oliver is THEIR son

Henry Schroer said...

Hi Chic,
I dont know why it came up as anonymous. Douglas also worked under the name of Eddie Windsor

I've been concerned (along with

many others I'm sure) about not

seeing anything from or about you

in quite a while so I hope this

means you are doing better

I had forgotten he had also been

in "Sugar Babies" on Broadway

It's hard to imagine how hard

it had to be in training to be

so obedient consistantly

My very best to you Henry

Thank you very much guys, I just finished Chemo Therapy and supposed to be getting better from here on. I am still putty sick but at least I am not dying. The Doctors give me better than 60% survival rate so I am confident that I will pull thru. As soon as I get red of the side effects and can use my hands and feet again in a normal manner you will hear from me again. Thanks a lot for your concern and all the best wishes.
