When I was doing research on Cole's 1937 stand in Galveston, Texas in the Galveston Dailey news they said they tried to do an interview with Maynard as there were kids out there and wanted to see him and he told them he was busy still getting ready for the show. Also I have some pics of him on Biller Bros and the photographer noted on the pics that he did not want any pics taken of him. So Ken must have been a real friendly guy, lol. Harry in Texas
Texas Harry, We might think Ken is not a friendly guy, or we might wonder if he was just a very busy guy making lot's of money, who didn't have a lot of extra time to spend with every cowboy fan who rode in, or speak with any journalist other then Hedda Hooper or someone from Photoplay. Lord, we've all been there and done that haven't we Roy, Tom, and Gene, you unsavory bushwhacking varmints. Hi Ho Silver, Clayton Moore
Anonymous, That was out of the Galveston Dailey news in a very long article. But there was also a great picture of the Greatest of them all Clyde Beatty with a lion cub and alot of Galveaston kids who posed for the picture. His time is also very valueable but he took the time to do it and was always great to circus fans. That is why Beatty and his showmanship will live on forever. A true circus star and master of the big cage. Harry in Texas
Texas Harry, What in the heck do you mean "Clyde Beatty with a lion cub?" Mr. Natural Born Jungle Killer never had time for cubs, said to be a European practice. You have to be mistaken. Take a look at the picture again and let me know. If it is Beatty, this is big, big news and we may have to rewrite his biography. William Randolph Hearst
