Thanks, Paul! I think this carving comes from a wagon known as the elephant tab or bloggers bandwagon. Has a central figure of an elephant with a guy wearing a big buckle and all these little cherubs, which this picture shows, and which the show's advertising names as Chic, Ole Whitey, Eric, PJ, Tanglefoot, Little John, Harry, etc., and even one called Gutheil!

Gutheil photos 3 and 4 document the side panels salvaged from the Hagenbeck-Wallace steam calliope of the 1920s. It replaced the 1905 Hagenbec calliope that was destroyed in 1917 at Ann Arbor.
