The "Giant Ape" in the semi on

the right was that tremendous

chimp that was able to toss the

tremendous cat cage over & over

where he was being held while

the semi was being painted

He would grab the roof through

the bars & swing his body mass

from side to side til he could

get the cage to roll over

After he was returned to the

semi they welded the door shut

He might have been called Congo

Probably the most dangerous

animal on the show at the time

Certainly not that bad a lot

as you can see the bottoms of

all the truck tires

Lokks like the 11 truck. Beatty had the best hot dogs on the grill, with onion, and garlic that I have ever had.

It wasn't for nothing that they

called it the grease joint

Don thanks for the great photo. Picture says everything. I miss this Beatty Cole Circus. Chic thanks for the comments.

It was my 1st show & will always

be near & dear to me

All my circus opportunities came

as a result of friends I made

starting in 61 in Commack

It was Victor Gaona that was

kind enough to introduce me to

Trolle Rhodin in 65 & the rest

just followed & as I've said

before if "It wasn't for dumb

luck I wouldn't have had any

luck at all"

I try to remember to be thankful

each & every day (while still on

this side of the grass)

TO CHIC!

You modestly omit that you were PREPARED when opportunity knocked and seized the moment!!

great dinner & evening of fun

Next time it's my turn

Sooo Don please tell us

I've been trying to determine

if that pole in the foreground

is a sidewall pole from a pony

top or what else it might be

I to miss the old Beatty Cole Circus.
They all were so nice to us fans, Edna Antes a class act, Johnny Pugh, Harry Hammond, Willie Storey,Dave Hoover
Freddy Logan and many more.
We would get them from time to time in my area or Louisiana.
To see that large tent rise early in the morning was a real thrill.
Those were the days.

Chic, Beatty Cole was my 1st circus too (74).

And I'm not sure if Jeopardy's Watson could calculate the dough that went thru those windows and then "flattened-n-faced behind it.

Chic Silber said...

Not only Watson can't figure it

out but neither does the IRS

That's why they call it SOFT

Hadn't heard flattened & faced

in many many years thanks Spin
