Belle Benchley #1 (From Eric Beheim)

Belle Benchley was hired as a temporary bookkeeper by the San Diego Zoo in October, 1925. A former schoolteacher, she had little business training and no experience working with animals. However, she proved herself highly competent and was soon given many of the duties of Zoo president Dr. Harry M. Wegeforth.

Learn something new every day and glad about it. Always happy to hear anything about Osa & Martin Johnson too. Ms Benchley was quite a lady.
Many thanks Eric...and Buckles
