I am always ammazed when seeing these old picket line photos with full grown males chained right there with the females. Imagine tieing a stud horse on a horse picket line like that. I assume the females came "in heat" and the males "in musth" but it seemed the elephant men handled it. I remember when Rex had a number of male3s on Vargas and he handled it and they all performed together. He and Buckles both did a great job of doing just that, but certainly it calls for a very knowledgeable captainj and the proof is what happens when they are no longer there. When I was with Rex on Vargas I always prayed that he would not brake a leg or some other incapacitating accident. Many nights he would gallop up on Yankee with a few snorts in him and slipping a sliding on the black top would give reason to be concerned, but he always made it a galloped off to the sunset. What a guy///////.
