HI Bill,

The New York Daily News ran a "a then and now" series of pictures under the banner of "Stars of the awesomely bad '80's TV: Where are they now?" It was series of twenty-seven pictures.

I stopped at a picture from the TV sitcom A.L.F. They showed a picture of Alf and the actor that brought Alf to life. I was surprised to see that the "actor" was the "Ringling Brothers Smallest Man In The World", Michu. I never knew that.

The article went on to say that Michu has "fallen out of the spotlight lately". I was wondering, where he is now and what he is doing. Would you or any of the Blogs readers have any additional information on Michu?

Here is the pictures and information from the Daily News...

Michu was born Mihaly Meszaros in Budapest, Hungary cSeptember, 1939 and grew to the height of 2'9" at the time he worked for Ringling he was said to be the Shortest Man on Earth.

After leaving Ringling, Michu worked in television, in full body costume as A.L.F., (Most of his shots were filmed from the waist up because of how hot his costume was.)

Michu (Cont.) He also appeared in a number of film roles that included Big Top Pee Wee, Look Who's Talking. His last film role appears to be in the 1993 film Warlock - The Armagedon.

The City of Hawthorne, CA named the shortest street in their city, Michu Lane. The site imdb.com shows him as living in Beverly Hills, CA with his two main hobbies being Scotch and big cigars.

An unconfirmed report on the site Zombie Popcorn has him rumored to have passed away in 2006, but again - this is an unconfirmed report. ~frank

I've heard lots of Michu stories, and always feel the need to say that when he worked on Ringling in '98-'99 he was nothing but professional.

Poor Elizabeth was terrorized

by him & Sandor did all he could

to protect her (they were both

delightful little people)

I tried really hard not to go there. But between Chic and Anony-mouse and I have to side with the former, having seen for myself his temperment, character and how he treated others. He may have changed considerably when he came back in 98-99, but that doesn't alter lasting impressions. ~frank
